Joseph F. Burke, Jr. , M.D.

General Ophthalmology

   Dr. Joseph F. Burke, Jr. specializes in medical and surgical retina management.  He is also an expert in diabetic eye care management. In addition he utilizes the latest "No Stitch" cataract removal technique using topical eye drop anesthesia.

   Dr. Burke is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association.  

   Dr. Burke is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in retina and diabetic eye care.   He attended college at Boston University and graduated with a AB degree in Biology.  He attended John Hopkins University, School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD where he obtained his M.D. degree in 1972.

Dr. Burke completed the following internships and residencies:
Internship and residency at Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, NH (Internal Medicine)
Residency VA Hospital in White River Junction, VT (Neurology)
Residency Boston City Hospital in Boston, MA (Ophthalmology)

Elias Reichel, M.D.
Retina/Vitreous Surgery and Medical Retina

   Dr. Elias Reichel's areas of expertise include both medical and surgical vitreoretinal disorders. His surgical interests include surgery for macular disorders, retinal detachment, and trauma of the posterior segment. He has a special interest in hereditary retinal degenerations, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

   Dr. Reichel is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Also a member of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

   Dr. Reichel is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in Retina/Vitreous Surgery and Medical Retina.   He attended medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he obtained his M.D. degree in 1986.  He completed his residency at Mass Eye & Ear Infirmary. Dr. Reichel completed Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery fellowship at Tufts University/New England Med Center.

    Dr. Reichel served as a Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Reichel is currently the Vice Chair for Research and Education, Department of Ophthalmology at New England Eye Center, Boston, MA. He is also the Director of the Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery Service and the Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship program at New England Eye Center. Dr. Reichel visits our office on Tuesdays.

Dr. Reichel joined Southcoast Eye Care in 2006.

John E. Meehan, M.D.
Glaucoma

Dr. John E. Meehan specializes in medical and surgical glaucoma management.  He is an expert in the care of complicated glaucoma cases including filtering surgeries with antimetabolites and the placement of glaucoma drainage devices.  In addition he utilizes the latest "No Stitch" cataract removal technique using topical eye drop anesthesia.

   Dr. Meehan is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

      Dr. Meehan is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in glaucoma and cataract surgery.   He attended college at Bucknell University and graduated with a BA degree in Biology.  He went to medical school at Hahneman University in Philadelphia, PA where he obtained his M.D. degree in 1996.  After finishing his internship at Mercy Hospital in San Diego and ophthalmology residency at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY, he completed a glaucoma fellowship at the University of California San Diego Shiley Eye Center.

Dr. Meehan moved to Dartmouth, MA to join Southcoast Eye Care in 2005.

William L.Olson, O.D.

   Dr. William L.Olson specializes in primary eye care and contact lens fittings. 

    Dr. Olson is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Mass Society of Optometrists.  

    Dr. Olson received a BA in Biology at Assumption College in Worchester, MA. He continued His education at New England College of Optometry where he obtained his O.D. degree in 1989.

    Dr. Olson has his own private practice in Brockton, MA. Dr. Olson visits our office twice a week.

Dr. Olson joined Southcoast Eye Care in 2004.

Jennifer M. Moncada, O.D.
Optometrist
Primary Eye Care

   Dr. Jennifer M. Moncada specializes in primary eye care and contact lens fittings.  

    Dr. Moncada is a member of the American Optometric Association, Mass Society of Optometrists and the College of Visual Development. Also a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Honor Society.  

    Dr. Moncada received a BS in Biological Science at Florida International University in Miami, FL. She continued her education at New England College of Optometry where she obtained her O.D. degree in 2007.

Dr. Moncada also completed the following Externships:

Peter J. Liberto, O.D.

   Dr. Peter J. Liberto specializes in primary eye care and contact lense fittings. He also has a special interest in vision related learning disorders.  

    Dr. Liberto is a member of the American Optometric Association, and an associate in the College of Optometrists in Visual Development.  

    Dr. Liberto received a BS in Biology from Providence College, Rhode Island. He then completed his Doctor of Optometry Degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA in 1990.

Dr. Liberto is in a private practice in Pawtucket, RI with an emphasis on Visual Perceptual Disorders.

Dr. Liberto is fluent in conversational Spanish and English.

Dr. Liberto joined Southcoast Eye Care in 2008.
